Cybertech TLV 2023: DSPM as the Future of Cloud Security

The Dig team recently had the opportunity to participate in Cybertech Global TLV, the cyber industry’s foremost B2B networking platform that hosts global conferences and exhibitions.

As a part of “The Cybertech Cloud Day - The Future of Cloud Security” Dig’s Co-Founder and CEO Dan Benjamin led the panel discussion on data security posture management (DSPM) with Erik Naugle, VP of Data Security and Use at Intuit, and Tali Shemer, National Programs Director of the Technology Division at INCD (Israel National Cyber Directorate), moderated by Shahar-Gal Nevo, Director of Cyber Center IL at Deloitte.

The three main takeaways from the discussion were:

  1. Visibility into your data is more important now than ever. Despite the fact that most large enterprises are running across clouds and 60% of the world’s data sits in public clouds today, organizations struggle to answer three main questions: What data do we have, how is that data being used, and how do we protect that data? The first step of effective cloud data security is knowing the answers to these questions.
  2. ChatGPT could be either friend or foe for cloud data security. The bottom line is that ChatGPT is a powerful tool, and it can be used by both attackers and organizations who are defending against them. Therefore, enterprises need to make it as difficult as possible for attackers to succeed against them. Utilize available solutions to become a difficult target. Attackers will opt for the easy option at the end of the day.
  3. Threats need to be detected and responded to in real time. In order to minimize negative business impact, full visibility and governance of data (with DSPM) needs to be paired with a comprehensive threat model that can detect and respond to threats and attacks in real time. This is called data detection and response (DDR)

Dig Security’s data security solution is the industry’s first and only platform to combine DSPM, cloud DLP (data loss prevention), and DDR. With real time risk monitoring and continuously evolving threat models, we ensure that organizations can protect their “crown jewels” and always have visibility into all of their data assets.
